Brewer’s Yeast (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae) and Florastor (Saccharomyces Boulardii) are not the same organism. I never would have predicted it, but it looks like Splenda/sucralose could be a big no no for anyone worried about C Diff. I love it when medical researchers are creative in their studies. I just read this article saying that scientists at the University of Southampton have found promising evidence that C Diff is inactivated quickly on copper surfaces. This could dramatically reduce the spread of C Diff in hospitals.

Think I’m crazy? How about this from Feb 2008 Reuters: “Deaths linked to the hospital superbug Clostridium difficile jumped by as much as 72 percent in 2006, official figures show” (click for article). This shows the spread of C Diff deaths and calls for government action to encourage cleaner hospitals.
