I been having cdiff since September 2009. I have been on Flagyl the first 2 times, for 10 days both times. Then I was put on vanco for 14 days and the cdiff return. Now I am back on vanco, my doctor put me on it 125mg 4xday for 7 days, then 2xday for 7 days, then 1xday for 7 days, then every other day for 7 days, then every 3 days for 7 days. I only have one more pill to take and that is this Sunday and I will be finished. I really hope that this work. I am taking Florastor and Culturelle. For the first two weeks back on vanco I was only taking florastor 250mg twice daily but now I am taking 250mg 4xdaily and taking culturelle twice daily. I only have one more pill to take, but my stomach still gurgling sometimes and my back hurts sometimes does that means that the cdiff is still there, or it just mean that the body is trying to heal itself. Can anyone give me some suggestion about this. Thanks Pinkylee.

My mom has c. diff and was prescribed flagyl which made her really sick and didn't work anyway. She then took vancomycin for 14 days along with florastor and a good belly drink daily. It is now day 4 after finishing the antibiotics and she was again nauseous today. She never really had too much diarrhea from it just nausea. Is there a timing when she should be taking the probiotics? I want my mom to the way she was and my children miss playing with their grandma. Please help.

Don't know if you remember me but my mother was a dialysis patient and very sick with this C-Diff. Well here is an update. She was DX was C-Diff sometime in July and never did get over it. even after round and round of antibiotics, pro biotics, seeing infectious disease Dr and Gastro Dr. Well 3 weeks ago she became very ill. we had to take her to hospital by ambulance. Turned out the C-Diff had distroyed her colon so bad it was about to rupture so they did Er surgery the next morning to remove all of her large and a foot of her small intestine and put her on a bag. They thought they got it but couldn't say for sure. she seemed to do ok the first two days out of surgery then she took a turn. A week later she was barley with us and we had to make the decision to stop everything, the dialysis and IV nutruion, ect...long story short she went into hospice and passed away on 11/14 at 5:30am. I am happy for her that she is no longer suffering but we are all still having a hard time of it. Especially my father after 53 years of marriage. If you want anymore specific info just contact me via e-mail otherwise just wanted you to know. thanks for the help that you all did try to give us during this trying time and God bless you all in your journey with this awful illness.

So, for those of you who have been through this C-diff crud is the tricky thing that everyones body reacts differently to treatment and you just have to keep trying and trying different things? This website has been very helpful but I am scared to death after my 10 year old son sas hospitalized with c-diff we have had a second bout. The information posted on this website states that if you relapse once you have a 65% chance of relapsing again. I am seeking a third doctors opinion this week. What do you think should I just skip the pediatricians and Gp's and go straight to a GI specialist. My sons pediatrician does not seem to concerned even after I have asked him questions after questions and I tell him my son is still so tired! He just wants to be a normal 10 year old boy and it breaks my heart to see what he has gone through! Eleven days and he gets his tonsils out in hopes to avoid more antibiotics due to strep, pnuemonia, and everything else he seems to pick up right now ant the drop of a hat! Does anyone else find they get illnesses easy or is it just because we started this with swine flu and strep at the same time and everyting has weakened his immune system to nothing!

Thanks! A very tired and frustrated MOM

I have a very long bad story with c diff. I was in and out of the hospital 20 times in 3 years, never was tested for c diff. Finally after my own research and the persistance from my family they finally did a stool sample. I have had it for 3 years and all the doctors in the hospital could not figure out why I was so sick. Stroked the final time in the hospital, I had been slowly dying of c diff for all those years. Almost had to do the poo transplant, after 3 sessions of very expensive pills, I am negative at this time. My guts from my stomach all the way down are all messed up now, have gastroperisis (paralysed guts). I want major attention brought to this little bug that can kill you, I want doctors to realize a simple poo test could have saved me so much anxiety, pain, and the slow death.
Thanks for letting me vent a little!

Hey guys. I hope everyone is feeling better or your affected family members are doing well. I just got diagnosed with wonderful c- diff a few days ago. I started flagyl and I'm going to buy florastor today and get some acidopholis going as well. I got this because I was on antibiotics because of a uti! I was very angry because I feel alone, its a crappy thing to have (no pun intended! Haha) if anyone has any other ideas that are helpful let me know, or any helpful stories would be appriciated! Good luck to everyone!

I am also very lethargic & feel dehydrated after a 4 week battle with C-Diff. When will I feel normal. I'm eating most foods but always stay near a little girl's room because it only stays with me 1 1/2hrs. Is that normal also?

I have been clear for almost 7 months after 3 months of treatment. Things are about back to normal, except I am so tired all the time. My labs don't show anemia anymore, but I am so lethargic. Is anyone else experiencing this?
